event Image

On FRIDAY, JULY 10am-4pm. Rebecca is hosting the next free retreat. We are offering our third 2017 (freeWRITERS' RETREAT at a my home.

Begins at 10:00 am and goes till 4:00. Bring own lunch or and something to share. Write, enjoy a sunny spot at a window. Enjoy the awakening inside and out.

We share in conversation over lunch. Rebecca will be making the traditional Sherpa Soup! (You may bring own lunch or something to share if you like, as well).  I am bringing Morel Pie.

At 3:00 we will have a sharing/closing circle.

This is an opportunity too to meet up with other poets and writers.  I offer these days in remembrance, and as a way to honor the poet and essayist, William Stafford. He knew how valuable the written word is to our humanity and felt it worthwhile to support other writers and poets. He lived an open life.

Please email me for directions and to register: julie@julietallardjohnson.com

When Farmers Can’t Work The Field

When famers can’t work the field

They repair tools,

Mend the fractures in containers

            talk to the land

            beg her to be kind

            pray for a bountiful harvest

A good rain

but who knows how this gap holds them.

When we can’t be together

It’s time to repair our hearts

Fill in the fractures while still letting in light

ask for the grace of recognition

            beg for kindness

            pray for bounty

A good friend

The climate inside rarely calm

all I know is this ache that

holds me

Until I see

the fields of your eyes.        JTJ,  2017
